Now led by Madison Carpenter, we were started in 2005 by Greer Gates (now "retired" and heading to college) at age seven, she began making and selling bracelets to raise money for cancer research to support her friend Nancy who was fighting ovarian cancer. With the help of family and friends, Greer has raised spirits and significant funding to help find a cure. My Jewels of Hope is entirely volunteer run with no paid staff or officers.
All our proceeds are donated to the University of Washington Foundation ( a 501(c)(3) organization) for cancer research to the Wendy Feuer Fund for the Prevention and Treatment of Ovarian Cancer under the direction of Dr. Elizabeth Swisher.
My Jewels of Hope is a Washington nonprofit corporation.
Donations are tax deductible, but we suggest you check with your tax advisor about the deduction for purchases of items.
The University or Washington utilizes 100% of the funds received for research, not for overhead or administrative costs.
